Smoke Alarms

Apparently living in my apartment requires significant acrobatic skills or partial hearing loss.

One of the smoke alarms started beeping at regular intervals alerting me to the fact that the battery is dead. How does it beep if the battery is dead? Why can't smoke alarms run on the electricity in the house? Somebody should get to the bottom of this.

Fortunately, I had a new battery; unfortunately I have high ceiling. So my stellar acrobatic skills come into play when I climb on my barstool and balance holding on to the wall and after several attempts succeed in changing the battery and silencing the beeping. Victory.

Congratulations on a job well done!! I agree, the spectacular ceilings need to be more accessible for such emergencies as this. :)
