Jealous... Be Very Jealous

So this week has been incredibly busy. And not just at work, which is unusual for me. This week included some brief business travel, meeting lots of new people, hanging out with some good friends and good food.

So I started this week by going to the new church I've been attending for a while... I can't really bring myself to say "my new church". If I have talked to you recently, you probably know I'm not going to the Branch much anymore - if not, sorry for the surprise! I have been visiting around trying to find a church closer to me and I really enjoy this one... its AWESOME.

Sunday I also went to the McKinney Trade Days and visited my friend's booth: www.DalyJems.com. Cool quality jewelry at a great price!

This week I also went to our corporate headquarters. Let me just say I LOVE flying on our corporate planes. No security checks, lines, or layovers. Just show up with your employee badge and climb on board, pick your comfy seat that is all by itself - not squished up next to someone else - buckle your safety belt and relax! Open up the cabinet and grab a coke or a beer and a snack and kick back for the ride! Yes, I said beer - I don't drink it but it's there and to be fair, I've only seen someone drink one on the way home at the end of the day. Don't worry- it wasn't the pilot. :) So... those of you unlucky ones forced to fly commercial, be jealous... be very jealous, indeed.

In this week was one of my cofriendworker's birthdays, so a few of us went to lunch together at Brio - a very yummy Italian restaurant. It was lovely enough to eat outside and I love doing that! I also decorated her cube (a tradition in our department) which caused another coworker to remark "You are the MacGyver of cube decorating!". Be jealous... you know you wish you could decorate cubes like me.

This new church I've been visiting has a Friday night service in which I sang on the worship team... very different, but fun.

After Friday night service, I met the aforementioned cofriendworker for dinner for her birthday... once again at Brio. :) We had a great time and great food, then we hung out at my place watching clips of The Big Bang Theory. If you haven't watched this show yet... you need to!

And so today, I have done three of my favorite things: read a good book, shop at Target and watch Hairspray.

Be jealous... be very jealous.

"The world is a mess and I just... need to rule it."

The title of this blog is a quote from Dr. Horrible on the video you're about to view:

Create Your Own Fun

I couldn't find this commercial online, so you'll just have suffer with my description. The commercial for Chili's opens with a group of business people around a conference table and the guy on the phone says "Let me put you on hold". The hold music starts playing and the people all back up from the table, kick one chair out of the way and start walking around the table as the music is playing. When the music stops, everyone fights for the remaining chairs and one poor guy gets shoved to the floor. Musical chairs in the office - priceless. The punchline was "Create Your Own Fun". Love it.

Fireworks

I went to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull tonight. It was really fun and when I left the theater, I saw these random fireworks, so I pulled over and watched them. So fun! I really love fireworks.

Its the little things that make me happy. It's the little things that make me realize that God is here and involved in my life. A coworker recently reminded me of this this week. I am so thankful to have great coworkers and an AWESOME GOD.

Maggie is here!!

Yes, Maggie is finally here - live and in person! She was born Monday, April 2nd. She is beautiful and sweet with LOTS of dark hair - so pretty! I will post pics later... It is very surreal that she is suddenly here on the outside. A tiny little person. A - Mazing.

I am doing better on the blog thing - this is less than a month between posts! Progress.

So my other friend Becky (not Maggie's mom) is moving to Nashville, which I did not give her permission to do. :) She is moving in June and if I haven't said it outright, I'll say it here - I'm sad. Happy for her courage to follow opportunity, but sad for me. SO SELFISH, I know. We went out to hear her boyfriend's (?) band play on Friday and it was great fun and made me realize how much I will miss her. The upside in all this is that I will have someone to visit out of town so I might finally GET A LIFE.

Becky's departure means I will be left alone with our 2 married friends. I know, I need to *deep breath* meet OTHER single people, but it's HARD. I am socially awkward to a degree few can tolerate. You have to be a special kind of weird to be around me and enjoy it. :)

I hope you all are having a wonderful Easter. Happy Resurrection Day! Remember the amazing hope we have in Jesus Christ. No matter how frustrated I am with things in my life, my present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in me thanks to the power of Jesus. He is Risen!

Catching up

So I haven't written in a while... not much to say. Right now I'm watching one of my favorite movies of all time - You've Got Mail. It always makes me feel good. Right now I'm at the part where they're at the party and she realizes he's Joe Fox - her nemesis. Oh here she goes taking food off his plate and putting it back on the buffet. Classic. Nothing beats Tom & Meg.

Last weekend I went to see Mamma Mia. It was great!! So funny - just hilarious and entertaining. It was my first time at Bass Hall - much fun.

I've started reading these new books about a girl bounty hunter. My friends recommended the Stephanie Plum books and at first I didn't think I would like them, but after Grandma shooting the chicken at dinner, I was hooked! Hilariously funny! I'm on book two... is she going to go for Joe Morelli or Ranger? Hmmm...

Okay, now its at the part where they try to avoid each other - so cute. Now he rescues her at the grocery - talks the cashier into letting her use a card instead of cash. Why would the cashier make her go to another line after scanning it all? How stupid is that? I've always wondered about that part - but that's what makes the movie relateable - it's stupid stuff that just happens...

I'm also noticing how pieces of her apartment in the movie look like mine. I've always liked her apartment... especially the books everywhere, which is the main thing that's like my apt.

It's school supply season and one of my favorite times of year to go into any store that sells them. I have a weird affection for school supplies. Paper, pencils, crayons, scissors, folders, binders, Elmer's, Scotch tape, etc. One of my favorite lines in the movie is where he emails her that he would send her bouquets of sharpened pencils if he knew her address. I honestly love that idea!!!!! Seriously, I was in Target today and perused the school supply section for a while. I purchased a set of dry erase markers... but I don't have a dry erase board. :) The markers were pretty okay? There is even a purple one! Maybe I'll take them to work. But I don't have a dry erase board there either. I guess this means I will be forced to purchase one - like for the fridge or something. Cool - another reason to look at school supplies!!!! (Yes, this was my plan all along).

Okay, I've got to go. Maybe next post I'll write about my current obsession with SYTYCD. Yeah, go ahead - Google it. :)
