Widow of the South
Fictionalized account of the Civil War Battle of Franklin, TN through the eyes of several characters; mainly Carrie McGavock. Carrie was the real life mistress of the Carnton Plantation which became a field hospital during the battle and for months afterward. Carrie developed a private confederate cemetery on her own land and tended it to her death, gaining her the name "The Widow of the South". Writing is engaging, but overall the book is dark; liked it because it involves history. 3 1/2 out of 5 stars
