"...and that this country shall have a new birth of freedom, and that this government, of the people, for the people, by the people, shall not perish from the Earth."
Abraham Lincoln
My cofriendworker and I were discussing how much we love the Fourth of July - everybody is outside, people are friendly, you eat good food, and the best thing, of course. is fireworks. Last night I watched one of the best fireworks shows in town with a few friends. It was so much fun watching the fireworks with Maggie (my honorary niece who is one year old) and seeing her enjoy them. Christmas is my favorite holiday, but this is a close second.
Independence Day is fun, but I'm also thinking about how cool it is that we live in this country; how unique we are in the world and how much we benefit from being citizens of the United States of America.
Thank you to our troops who work so hard and put yourselves in harm's way so we can continue to enjoy our freedom. Thank you to the many who have given the ultimate sacrifice and to the families who have endured that sacrifice.
"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth..."
